REALTORS® know more than just real estate. They are involved in the community, support human rights, advocate for fair tax,
recognize the accomplishments of local leaders, and revitalize neighborhoods.
The Canadian Museum for Human Rights
The Canadian Museum for Human Rights is an international destination of human rights learning, dialogue and greater understanding. Museum visitors,
both on-line and in-person, are taken on a journey through our human rights history. The first Canadian National Museum to be built in 40 years is a
legacy like no other and WinnipegREALTORS® is committed to supporting this beacon of hope for all Canadians and people around the world.
Citizen's Hall of Fame
The Citizens Hall of Fame was founded and inspired by members of the WinnipegREALTORS®
Association in 1986. Initially the WinnipegREALTORS® Association wanted to host
an event that would recognize outstanding individual contributions to the City of
Winnipeg. It soon became evident that there was no lack of dinners, banquets, and
other events honouring Winnipeg citizens for extraordinary achievements. Such recognition,
however, was a fleeting testament to individual effort. The lack of permanent and
public facility to honour outstanding Winnipeggers led to the creation of the concept
of the Citizens Hall of Fame.
As the first of its kind, the Hall of Fame is a permanent momento to the pursuit
and attainment of individual excellence and achievement on behalf of one's community.
It is a tourist attraction, repository of local history, a source of education to
the Winnipeg community, and lastly, a vehicle for displaying talents of local artists.
Manitoba - Land Transfer Tax
In Manitoba, Land Transfer Taxes for a $300,000 home totals a shocking $3,650.00!
The fee is completely inexplicable when you consider the actual cost of registering
the property. The WinnipegREALTORS® Association
wants the Province to reduce its land transfer taxes to make it easier for people
to purchase homes. Read the sad TRUTH on this website. www.2muchltt.com
Housing Opportunity Partnership (HOP)
The Housing Opportunity Partnership (HOP) is a not-for-profit inner city housing
revitalization initiative dedicated to reclaiming houses, streets and neighbourhoods
by acquiring homes in need of repair; completely upgrading them, and then selling
them to new homeowners. HOP is an acronym for Home Ownership Program. HOP believes
that home ownership brings stability to a neighbourhood.
HOP is making a real difference by providing cost effective affordable housing solutions
to Winnipeg's serious inner city housing issues.
